Man Killed In St. Petersburg Scooter Crash

A 39-year-old man was killed on an electric scooter in a crash that happened on Monday, police say.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – A 39-year-old man was killed on an electric scooter in a crash that happened on Monday, police say.

According to police, on Monday, at 6:32 p.m., a black Ford Escape was traveling westbound on 22nd Avenue North.

A black Ancher electric bicycle was traveling southbound on 52nd Street North. Both the electric bicycle and the Ford Escape entered the intersection at the same time, where they ultimately collided.

The victim, a 39-year-old male, was transported to Bayfront Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Next of kin has not been notified.

The driver is not injured, stayed at the scene, and is cooperating with the investigation.

The investigation is still ongoing.
