The British invasion has apparently hit Miami.
In August 2021, as The Free Press reported, the National Police Chiefs’ Council in Britain was showing off some police cars from local departments that were adorned with audaciously bright colors, as well as the LGBT Pride flag and slogans such as “Police with Pride.”
While a critic dismissed them as “clown cars,” the group’s top official on LGBT issues maintained the idea was to empower “under-represented” communities to come forward to report crime.
Last week the conservative website The Florida Standard reported on Miami police following their British counterparts.

As shown in a Twitter post, the department was showing off a brightly colored patrol car with the words “Pride” and “LGBTQ+” next to a heart symbol.
In a statement to Fox News, which also reported on the vehicle, the Miami Police Department defended the theme, saying the car had been ordered for Pride Month in June 2021.
“It is a show of solidarity for the LGBTQ+ community, and it is driven by our MPD LGBTQ+ Liaison Officer,” the department told Fox News. “Also, the LGBTQ+ vehicle wrap was donated by Enrique Santos from iHeart Radio.”
The vehicle generated some comments from Republicans, who were curious how this could happen, Fox News noted.
Former Republican Senate candidate Mark Pukita tweeted, “Perhaps society is unsalvageable. WTF?”
Chaya Raichik, the founder of the social media account Libs of TikTok, noted, “If a rainbow police car pulled me over, I would just accuse them of misgendering me, and they would be so scared of facing consequences that they’d have to just let me go.”

Anthony Sabatini, a former Republican state lawmaker, dubbed the patrol car a “crass political display.”
“The Florida Legislature has the ability to preempt/prohibit this crass political display with a state law,” Sabatini tweeted. “Why haven’t they? You’d be surprised to learn how liberal many of them are behind the scenes. That and/or they simply lack the courage to stand up to the Left.”
The Florida Standard noted that other South Florida departments have similar vehicles.
While some thought it was illegal to do this to a police car, Lyrissa Barnett Lidsky, a law professor at the University of Florida, said it may be “unwise” to outfit such a vehicle, but so long as the government enforces the law equally, it is protected as free speech.
