The Energy Department (DOE) has ended its employment of Sam Brinton, a deputy assistant secretary over a nuclear waste program within the Energy Department, after luggage thefts in two cities.
Brinton was appointed in February, becoming the first “non-binary drag queen” and a self-proclaimed “kink activist” who also once billed himself as the “first gender fluid person in federal government leadership,” The Free Press reported in February.
Brinton allegedly swiped a Vera Bradley suitcase worth $2,325 from the luggage claim section of the Minneapolis airport on Sept. 16, according to court records.
Police scanned video surveillance of the baggage carousel and identified Brinton making off with the luggage after he removed the identification tag.
Authorities issued an arrest warrant against Brinton last week for allegedly taking someone’s luggage from the Las Vegas’ Harry Reid International Airport airport in July, according to Business Insider.
Las Vegas authorities issued a felony warrant for Brinton’s arrest after a complaint that he swiped a suitcase valued between $1,200 and $5,000.
Authorities charged Brinton with grand larceny over his alleged action in Las Vegas, records show, according to 8 News Now.
Before the luggage thefts, Brinton was best known for being a “non-binary drag queen” and self-proclaimed “kink activist,” specializing in dog fetishes. He once claimed he was the “first gender fluid person in federal government leadership,” as The Free Press reported in February.
A DOE spokesperson claimed he was on leave from his job at the time after those charges were filed, according to 8 News Now.
An online profile of Brinton claims he has been “active in the kink world since 2013,” hosting “monthly kink parties in their (sic) dungeon in Washington” and having “spanked over 2,000 cute butts.”
