PLANT CITY, Fla. – A 20-year-old Plant City man has been charged with DUI Manslaughter after a crash that took the life of a woman Saturday night.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, the Plant City man was driving a pickup truck eastbound on Dr. MLK Jr. Blvd (SR-574) at a high rate of speed around 11:30 pm Saturday.
According to troopers, a car was traveling westbound on SR-574, and at the intersection of North Forbes Road, the car turned left into the path of the pickup truck.
Troopers say the pickup collided with the car, and the impact split the car into two sections, ejecting the vehicle’s passenger, who suffered fatal injuries at the crash scene.
Information on the woman who was killed in the crash was not released by Florida Highway Patrol.
The driver of the car, a 43-year-old man from Sydney, Florida, suffered serious injuries in the crash.
FHP Troopers later arrested the driver of the pickup truck, Rodolfo Ezekiel Frias, 20, for DUI Manslaughter and Vehicular Homicide.
