TAMPA, Fla. – With so much being made of the Bucs offense and their inability to score, the Bucs defense should shoulder some of the blame for the Bucs losing three out of their last four.

Bucs linebacker Devin White says it isn’t any one thing or player, it’s just not being consistent enough.

“I just think we have mental lapses at one spot, ” White said. “There’s always one spot that creates an opportunity for a big play. We just gotta stay sound.”

The Bucs defense gave up 173 yards rushing in a 21-3 loss to the lowly Carolina Panthers Sunday and allowed a third-string quarterback in PJ Walker to beat them. This was days after trading away their best player running back Christian McCaffrey. Carolina had 343 yards on offense. White knows the Bucs are still tied for first place in the NFC South with a 3-4 record but admits playing like they’re playing right now won’t allow the Bucs to go far.

“So being at the top of the division is good and in the playoff picture,” White said. “But we gotta fix the task at hand. Before we even start thinking about the playoffs, because we’ll just be a one-and-done team. it’s important to get back on the right track of things.”

The Bucs don’t have much time to fix their problems since they’ll host the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night. White believes it would be the perfect time to turn it around.

“We need the win,” White said. We’re a ballclub that can win a lot of games  and we will win a lot of games.”

The Ravens are led by dynamic quarterback Lamar Jackson and are coming off a 23-20 win over the Cleveland Browns.
