Sen. Scott Hammers Biden For Policies That Continue To Drive Up inflation

U.S. Sen. Rick Scott on Tuesday hammered President Joe Biden after another dismal report on inflation.

U.S. Sen. Rick Scott on Tuesday hammered President Joe Biden after another dismal report on inflation.

The Labor Department announced that inflation was running at 8.3 percent for August compared to August 2021. It was the fifth consecutive month that inflation was above 8 percent.

Perhaps more telling, the inflation rate is now six times higher than when Biden entered office.

As The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday, consumers caught a break, sort of, as gas prices continued to drop. The national average was $3.71 a gallon, which was down 26 percent from the record-setting peak in June, but which is still $1.43 – or roughly 50 percent – above the average when Biden took office.

On Tuesday, while Biden was celebrating the passage of his ironically named Inflation Reduction Act, the Journal pointed out, “(P)rices for most goods and services remained much higher than a year earlier. … Food prices continued to climb sharply this past month, rising 0.8% in August from July, as did those for new vehicles. Prices also rose last month for medical care, education, electricity, and natural gas. One key channel of inflation is rising housing costs, which rose 0.7% in August from July.”

Sen. Scott for months has been denouncing Biden for jacking up inflation, and hurting the working and middle classes with higher prices for most goods and services.

The Florida Republican noted that the Labor Department’s report indicated food prices shot up 11.4 percent, a rate unseen since 1979.

He noted some of these costs in a press release: fuel oil up 68.8 percent, eggs up 39.8 percent, butter up 24.6 percent, milk up 17 percent.

“While the White House will undoubtedly celebrate today’s inflation report, families are still suffering. Food prices are way up since Biden took office and STILL RISING HIGHER,” Scott said in a statement.

“And while gas prices have fallen slightly, they are still way higher than when Biden took office thanks to his war on American energy and failed policies like canceling the Keystone Pipeline.”

“Families in my state and all across the country don’t want a consolation prize, they want lower prices. But, instead of helping them and changing course, Joe Biden is a do-nothing president that is completely controlled by the radical left socialists in his party” Scott continued.

“Since Biden took office, inflation in America is up more than 13%. There is one solution to this problem: STOP RECKLESS GOVERNMENT SPENDING.”

“Florida families are SICK AND TIRED of paying the price for Biden’s failed, woke agenda and I will keep fighting every day to stop it and the raging inflation its pushing on all Americans,” he concluded.
