WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Polk County Sheriff’s Office needs your help in a hit-and-run investigation from early Monday morning in Winter Haven.
According to deputies, around 1:10 a.m. the Emergency Call Center received a 911 call from someone who found the victim, an adult white male, on the side of the road of Cypress Gardens Blvd near Helena Road, with significant injuries.
Deputies responded and it was apparent that the pedestrian was on or near the roadway when he was struck by a vehicle that was heading eastbound on Cypress Gardens Boulevard and turned onto Helena via the right-hand turn lane.
“We do not know when the victim was hit, we only know when he was found. There is no debris left behind at the scene but there are other indicators that this is a hit-and-run. There may be front-end damage to the suspect vehicle,” said PCSO.
