TREASURE ISLAND, Fla. – The city of Treasure Island will begin three different roadway and drainage improvement projects the week of Sept. 12, 2022.
Beginning the week of Sept. 12: 2nd Street East in Isle of Capri, from Capri Circle South to the end of 2nd Street East at Key Capri, selected valley gutters will be removed and replaced in preparation for milling and resurfacing that will begin in November 2022.
Drivers can expect some delays and periodic traffic pattern changes through the end of September.

Starting the week of Oct. 3: West Gulf Blvd from Gulf Blvd to Bayshore Drive, drainage improvements, including gutters and drainage inlets, will be constructed in preparation for milling and resurfacing that will begin in November 2022. Drivers can expect some delays and periodic traffic pattern changes through the end of January 2023.
The gutter removal/replacement portion of all three projects will be done first. After that, the contractor will come back to each area to mill and pave the roadways.
With the Gulf Blvd to Bayshore Drive project expected to cause the most interruptions, the city will host a Sunset Beach Community Meeting in the City Hall Auditorium on Sept. 24 at 10 a.m. The city will provide residents with information and answer questions about the roadway drainage and improvement project. There will also be a discussion of an idea to meter side street parking in Sunset Beach as a way to help relieve parking issues.
Drivers are asked to be patient and allow for extra time when navigating these areas of Treasure Island. The Treasure Island Police Department will also be patrolling these areas to help relieve any traffic problems and issue citations to drivers not obeying traffic laws.
