Democratic gubernatorial candidate Nikki Fried’s political committee raised nearly $240,000 from July 30 through Aug. 5, while spending more than $800,000 on expenses such as advertising, according to a newly filed finance report.
The Florida Consumers First committee raised $239,615 during the week, with most of the money coming in $100,000 contributions from Coral Gables health-care executive Mike Fernandez and the political committee Her Bold Move Action-Florida.
Florida Consumers First spent $803,297 during the period, including paying $282,018 to Massachusetts-based Wildfire Mail for “direct mail marketing” and $250,000 to Georgia-based Canal Partners Media for advertising.
Fried’s committee had about $379,000 in cash on hand as of Aug. 5, as she competes in the Aug. 23 gubernatorial primary against Charlie Crist.

The political committee Friends of Charlie Crist raised $68,113 from July 30 through Aug. 5, while spending about $1.565 million, according to a new finance report.
The committee had about $1.77 million on hand as of Aug. 5. Its expenditures during the week included about $690,000 to Washington, D.C.-based GMMB, Inc. for advertising buys and about $541,000 to the California-based firm Ambrosino, Muir, Hansen & Crounse, or AMHC, for direct mail.
