Since the U.S. Supreme Court struck down the 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling on abortion last month, left-wing Democrats, such as U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren and New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, have clamored for the Biden administration to set up abortion clinics on federal lands.
Their idea is to establish federal abortion mills in red states that are likely to abolish abortion completely or severely restrict the procedure now that states have the freedom to create their own policies.
Yet U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio and other GOP lawmakers are pushing back on that idea.
The Florida Republican partnered with Idaho Republican Sen. Jim Risch on Thursday to introduce the “Prohibiting Abortion on Federal Lands Act.”
“The Federal Government shall not promote, support, or enter into contracts with abortion entities, or otherwise expand access to abortions on Federal lands or in Federal facilities, including military installations, national parks, court houses, and other Federal buildings,” the two-page bill says.

The bill would apply the restriction beyond the actual surgical procedure to terminate a life in the womb.
The measure defines abortion as “the use or prescription of any instrument, medicine, drug, or other substance or device to intentionally kill the unborn child of a woman known to be pregnant, or prematurely terminate the pregnancy of a woman known to be pregnant, with an intention other than to increase the probability of a live birth or of preserving the life or health of the child after live birth, or remove a dead unborn child.”
In a press release, the senators said it would “prohibit the Biden administration, or any future pro-abortion administration, from using federal lands and facilities for abortions.”
“Democrats will stop at nothing to preserve the practice of murdering unborn Americans,” Rubio said in a statement.
“I will do everything I can to protect life and block President Biden from grossly abusing his presidential power.”
In a statement, Risch added, “Attempting to bypass states that have made the commitment to treat every human life with respect and dignity is shameless and unacceptable, and we must ensure this option is not on the table. States must be free to stand up for the unborn.”
Joining Rubio and Risch in promoting the bill were Republican Sens. Roger Marshall of Kansas, Cindy Hyde-Smith of Mississippi, Roger Wicker of Mississippi, Steve Daines of Montana, John Thune of South Dakota, and Josh Hawley of Missouri.
Noting the “mounting pressure” pro-abortion activists are applying to Biden to “undermine pro-life states” and create “abortion safe havens” on federal property, Rubio and Risch pointed out this is the second bill they have filed to rein in Biden.
Their other bill, which was supported by GOP Sen. Rick Scott of Florida and other Republicans, was the Prohibiting Federal Emergencies for Abortion Act.
That measure, filed last month, would prohibit the administration from declaring access to abortion a public health emergency.
