Man Commits Suicide By Shooting Himself In A Plant City Emergency Room

Plant City Police Department is investigating a suicide that happened at South Florida Baptist Hospital Tuesday.

PLANT CITY, Fla. – Plant City Police Department is investigating a suicide that happened at South Florida Baptist Hospital Tuesday.

On Tuesday, at approximately 11:54 a.m. the Plant City Police Department received a 911 call from the South Florida Baptist Hospital switchboard, saying that a white male adult entered the emergency room of the hospital, brandished a firearm, and shot himself in the head inside of the hospital.

Upon police arrival it was learned that hospital staff had already relocated the male to a treatment room for care within the emergency room, however the man died from injuries suffered.

No staff members or patrons within the hospital were injured and there is no danger to the public at this time.

The Plant City Police Department is actively investigating this incident. There is no additional information pending a next of kin notification.
