In what seems par for the course during President Joe Biden’s term, Border Patrol agents who did nothing wrong will still be punished.
The Biden administration has raised two “charges” against Border Patrol agents who, while mounted on horseback, were accused of “whipping” illegal immigrants from Haiti as they sought to enter the country last September, according to the Daily Caller.
The agents are set to be penalized for demonstrating “poor judgment” by telling the illegals “to go back to Mexico, or words to that effect.” The second charge against them is that they exercised “unsafe conduct” by maneuvering horses “in a way that caused a noncitizen to fall backward into the Rio Grande River,” which had the effect of “thereby compromising the safety of the noncitizen, yourself, and your horse.”
Yet as the Washington Free Beacon reported on Friday, Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Chris Magnus noted in a memo.
“There is no evidence any agent struck—intentionally or otherwise—any migrant with their reins,” Magnus wrote.

“A thorough investigation was done despite comments or criticisms made by anyone in the media,” Magnus added. “Not everyone will agree with the findings, but the investigation was comprehensive and fair.”
Liberals – naturally – were more upset by out-of-context images that seemed to show Border Patrol agents “whipping” the immigrants, when in fact it was the horse’s reins flying around, than they were and are by thousands of illegals breaking the law to enter America.
Even the photographer who took the pictures that fed the narrative that agents struck the illegals with whips acknowledged that no one was “whipped.”
“I didn’t ever see them whip anybody,” Paul Ratije told the media. “He was swinging it. But I didn’t see him actually take — whip someone with it. That’s something that can be misconstrued when you’re looking at the picture.”
Bill Melugin of Fox News tweeted Friday that the four agents involved could receive suspensions of two weeks without pay.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton defended the agents, saying in a statement, “There’s no doubt this was political. And it’s really unfortunate for these border agents who’ve given their lives to securing our border and defending Americans. And here they are being punished, they should be rewarded. They should be taken care of.”
“Instead,” he added. “their careers may be ruined, and they’ve been humiliated in front of the entire American public. And I just think it’s really wrong. I would expect instead that Joe Biden and some of these political leaders should come out and actually apologize to these guys for what they’ve been through.”
