Pinellas County Commissioner Peters Endorses Hayslett In Congressional FL-13

Today, Pinellas County Commissioner Kathleen Peters announced her endorsement of Kevin Hayslett for Congress in Florida’s 13th Congressional District.

CLEARWATER, Fla. – Today, Pinellas County Commissioner Kathleen Peters announced her endorsement of Kevin Hayslett for Congress in Florida’s 13th Congressional District.

Commissioner Peters joins a long list of local leaders supporting Hayslett’s run for Congress, including Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri. Most of Pinellas County resides within FL-13, as it makes up nearly all of the district.

Peters first began serving Pinellas County in 2008 when she was elected to the South Pasadena City Commission, later serving as the City’s Mayor from 2009 to 2012. In November of 2012, she was elected to the Florida House of Representatives.

She served as the Chair of the Energy and Utilities Committee and was a member of the Commerce and Ways & Means Committees and the Children, Families, & Seniors Subcommittee. She served in the Florida House until 2018 when she was elected to the Pinellas County Commission.

She has been a strong conservative voice for residents and businesses, having been the only Commissioner that opposed raising taxes in both 2020 and 2021.

“Kevin is a true conservative and the only law and order candidate running in this race. He’s a former prosecutor, local business owner, and a Pinellas County native. I can’t think of anyone better suited to represent our community in Congress than Kevin Hayslett,” stated Peters. “Kevin is someone who will go to Washington to fight for the residents of Pinellas County every day.”

As a former prosecutor, Hayslett has positioned himself as the law and order candidate for FL-13 and has garnered more support from local leaders than any other candidate in the race.

“Inflation is out of control, crime is rising, and the border is a mess. We need new leadership in Washington, and we need it now,” stated Hayslett. “We’ve had two disastrous years of Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi and they’ve done a lifetime of damage to our country and our communities. As a Member of Congress, I’ll bring change to Washington because I’ll spend every day fighting for the people of Pinellas County.”
