BROKKSVILLE, Fla. – Hernando County Board of County Commissioners is accepting applications from individuals qualified to fill two vacant Board Member seats on the Pasco-Hernando Workforce Board under the categories of Education (one seat) and Business (one seat).
The categories are defined by Local Workforce Development Board Composition, Certification and Decertification Policy Number 91 (CareerSource Florida), as follows:
Education – “representatives of entities administering education and training activities in the local area, including…a private education provider”.
Business – “owners of a business, chief executives or operating officers of businesses, or other business executives or employers with optimum policymaking or hiring authority; represent businesses, including small businesses, or organizations representing businesses that provide employment opportunities that, at a minimum, include high-quality, work relevant training and development in in-demand industry sectors or occupations in the local area; and are appointed from among individuals nominated by local business organizations and business trade associations”.
The Pasco-Hernando Workforce Board is a not-for-profit organization that serves Pasco and Hernando counties by administering local workforce development and welfare reform programs through State and Federal initiatives.
The Workforce Board is one of 24 local Workforce Boards in Florida operating under the governance of CareerSource Florida, which was created in 2000 by the Workforce Innovation Act.
The Local Workforce Boards share a common goal of developing the State’s business climate by designing and implementing strategies to help residents enter, remain, and advance in the workforce, with a focus on employment, education and economic development.
All applicants must be residents and registered voters in Hernando County.
This is a voluntary, non-paid position, and members of the Board are eligible to serve three consecutive four-year terms. The Board meets on a quarterly basis and the meetings are conducted via teleconference (at this time).
