15-Year-Old Florida Boy Arrested After Fleeing From Deputies In Stolen Minivan At 90 MPH

A 15-year-old Florida boy faces multiple felonies after he tried to flee from deputies in a stolen vehicle on Thursday.

“This juvenile put lives at risk, including our deputies, when trying to flee,” Collier County Sheriff Kevin Rambosk said. “These deputies did a terrific job arresting this individual and recovering a stolen vehicle.”

On June 10, the victim reported to CCSO that sometime during the night someone stole her 2016 red Toyota Sienna minivan from her driveway in East Naples. The van was unlocked with the keys inside.

Deputies say around 2 am Thursday morning deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a red minivan that had just run a red light at the intersection of Davis and Lakewood boulevards.

However, the driver, 15-year-old Christopher D. Rangel Vasquez, refused to stop. Deputies then initiated a pursuit.

The pursuit reached speeds of 90 mph and ended when the minivan crashed into a pole and went into a ditch in the area of Lakewood and U.S. 41. Deputies said Rangel Vasquez, was still attempting to flee as they approached the vehicle. The teen was taken into custody.

His 18-year-old brother Ruben Rangel Vasquez, also of Naples, was a passenger in the van. He was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
