The rabidly woke Democrats have lost Elon Musk. Even worse, Musk is advocating Florida’s Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis.
On Wednesday, the multibillionaire CEO of Tesla and SpaceX said on Twitter that he voted for Mayra Flores in Tuesday’s special election in Texas. Musk said it was the first vote he ever cast for a Republican. He helped Flores flip a seat Democrats had held since 1870.
Musk then predicted a “massive red wave” in November’s congressional elections.
He also was asked on Twitter whom he liked in 2024, Musk initially answered “tbd,” for to be determined. But when pressed about who he was leaning toward, Musk gave a one-word answer: “DeSantis.”
He then added, “I supported [Democrat Andrew] Yang last time, but DeSantis has a better chance of winning.”
For his part, the governor accepted Musk’s endorsement in stride, even if he’s not looking that far ahead.
At a press conference in Madeira Beach, where he talked about the formation of the Florida State Guard, DeSantis was asked about Musk’s comment.
“I’m focused on 2022, but with @elonmusk what I would say is, you know. I welcome support from African-Americans. What can I say?” DeSantis replied.
Musk is a native of South Africa.
Musk announced last month that he, like so many others, is fleeing the Democratic Party this fall.
He noted that he always voted for Democrats “because they were (mostly) the kindness party.”
“But,” Musk added, “they have become the party of division & hate, so I can no longer support them and will vote Republican.”
As The Free Press has reported, recent polls from across the country show that DeSantis is gaining in popularity among GOP voters – to the point that he outpaces former President Donald Trump in some states.
Musk voted in Texas because he relocated much of his Tesla operation there.
But Florida, seeing his work on space exploration, has tried to woo him.
Two months ago, The Free Press reported, Florida’s Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis encouraged Musk to bring Twitter to Florida, if or when he finished buying the social media platform.
“I’m hopeful that with your influence, this platform can unwind some of its garbage-adjacent policies,” Patronis wrote.
“I think Twitter’s culture could benefit from being in a state that values liberty and has not been taken captive by the thought police (unlike California). There is no Ministry of truth here. Just freedom, beaches, and a lot of opportunity.”
