SPRING HILL, Fla. – A home invasion suspect was shot and killed by multiple deputies after firing at them in a Spring Hill neighborhood Tuesday afternoon.
Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco and Hernando County Sheriff Al Nienhuis gave an update on the deputy-involved shooting Tuesday along with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
According to Sheriff Nienhuis, the suspect, who has not yet been identified, was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The incident unfolded during a home invasion robbery that took place at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday in Hudson, Pasco County according to investigators.
Sheriff Nocco said an 89-year-old man was home when suspects came in, tied the man up, and stole his car.

Nocco said the man was able to get free and call for help.
Hernando County deputies later found that stolen car, which investigators said was intentionally set on fire.
Later in the day, Hernando County deputies responded to the Spring Hill neighborhood where there were reports of suspicious individuals.
One of the suspects was spotted by Hernando County deputies who were in the area.
According to investigators, the suspect entered a home with adults and children inside, who hid inside the home.
Sheriff Nienhuis said the suspect began shooting at deputies from the garage and at least three Hernando County deputies and one Pasco County deputy returned fire. The suspect was shot while continuing to shoot at deputies while running down the street.

Investigators said he was taken to a local hospital where was pronounced dead.
Nocco said the suspect has a lengthy criminal history and was a documented gang member, according to deputies. He was recently released from prison back in May 2021.
“We’re not going to release the identity of this person just yet, but a little information on this individual,” said Nienhuis.
The deputies involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave and FDLE is taking over the investigation.
“Thank God, that none of the innocent victims were harmed,” Nocco added.
