After continued investigation, detectives arrested Antonio D. Johnson, age 40, charging him with one count of Murder in the Second Degree with Firearm and one count of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree with Firearm.

Suspect In Plant City Shooting Murder Arrested

PLANT CITY, FL. – On March 21, 2022, at approximately 10:32 p.m. the Plant City Police Department received a 911 call in reference to a shooting with injuries.

Officers located a 54-year-old black male subject who was a front-seat passenger of a vehicle.

Additionally, officers located a 51-year-old black male victim who sustained an apparent gunshot wound. 

Both were together earlier in the evening when police say the 54-year-old victim and another man got into an argument.  Both victims left the area, in an attempt to de-escalate the situation. Upon arriving at the incident scene, the 54-year-old victim, saw a black vehicle driving in the area.

The driver drove up to their vehicle and shot both men. The 54-year-old man died at the scene. 

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue responded to the scene and transported the second victim to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

After continued investigation, detectives arrested Antonio D. Johnson, age 40, charging him with one count of Murder in the Second Degree with Firearm and one count of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree with Firearm.

He was booked into Orient Road Jail without incident. This investigation is active.
