Tampa Man Ejected And Killed In I-75 Crash Near Apollo Beach

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL. – A Tampa man was killed in a crash that happened Wednesday on I-75, just south of the Big Bend Road exit.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, a pickup truck was traveling northbound on I-75, south of Big Bend Road, when the driver lost control of the vehicle.

Troopers say the truck initially rotated to the inside shoulder before traveling back across the highway to the outside shoulder. Once on the shoulder, the truck overturned multiple times at which point both occupants were ejected from the vehicle with the driver, a 33-year-old Tampa man, suffering fatal injuries at the crash scene.

The passenger of the truck, a 22-year-old Tampa man, suffered serious injuries in the crash and was transported to a local hospital.
