CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. – A crash on US-41 at W. Withlacoochee Trail, sent a boat sailing on Monday afternooon.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, a van driven by a 92-year-old Citrus Springs man was traveling southbound on US-41 approaching West Withlacoochee Trail.
A pickup truck, that was pulling a boat was traveling northbound. Troopers say as the two vehicles approached, the Citrus Springs man failed to negotiate a left curve and collided with the west shoulder guardrail. His van was redirected and entered the northbound lanes of US-41.
Once in the northbound lanes, the front left side of the van collided with the left side of the pickup truck and its trailer boat. The impact caused the trailer and boat to overturn along the shoulder and northbound lanes while the van came to stop in the southbound lane.
Both drivers suffered only minor injuries in the crash. The boat wasn’t so lucky.
