According to a State Department official, nine American citizens have died since Hamas started its onslaught on Israel on Saturday.
Israel declared war on Saturday morning after hundreds of terrorists from Hamas, which is based in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, stormed the country and started massacring the execution and kidnapping of troops and civilians.
According to a department spokesman, the government has sent its condolences to the families and confirmed that the number of American deaths in the fighting has increased to nine.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the victims and to the families of all those affected,” the spokesperson said. “We continue to monitor the situation closely and remain in touch with our Israeli partners and the local authorities. We are in touch with the families and providing all appropriate consular assistance.”
Following the statement made by Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer that Americans are among the hostages captured by Hamas, Secretary of State Antony Blinken declared on Sunday that some Americans may have been killed or taken hostage.
According to the spokeswoman, the department is still trying to find out how many Americans have been kidnapped in the previous two days. They are also coordinating with the Israeli government as it regains control of territories in the West Bank and Gaza.
“We are in the midst of a campaign. I know that you have undergone a difficult and terrible ordeal,” Netanyahu said. “What Hamas will experience will be difficult and terrible.”
