ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – A 13-year-old 8th-grade student at Azalea Middle School was arrested Tuesday after police discovered a gun and a kitchen knife in his backpack.
The St. Petersburg Police Department confirmed that no direct threats were made to students or the school, either verbally or in writing. The student was taken into custody without incident.
The boy has been charged with two counts of possession of a weapon on school property, a serious offense under Florida law.
