PASCO COUNTY, FL. – An 88-year-old Hudson woman died Tuesday from injuries sustained in a crash that happened around 10:20 am.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, a car driven by a 63-year-old Holiday woman was traveling eastbound on SR-52 in the left turn lane, west of Hicks Road, approaching a flashing yellow left-turn arrow.
Troopers say a second car, driven by a 93-year-old Hudson man and an SUV were traveling westbound on SR-52 in the center lane and outside lanes respectively, approaching the intersection with a green traffic signal.
At the intersection, the 63-year-old Holiday woman turned left into the path of the Hudson man’s vehicle. The front of the car collided with the right side of the Holiday woman’s vehicle.
Troopers say after the impact, the Holiday woman’s car rotated and collided with the rear of the SUV which came to a controlled stop.
Both of the cars rotated and stopped along the westbound lanes and intersection of SR-52.
The 93-year-old man and his passenger, an 88-year-old Hudson woman, were transported to an area hospital. The man suffered serious injuries in the collision.
The 88-year-old woman died from injuries sustained in the crash.
The crash closed portions of SR-52 until 3:20 PM.
