ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Police in St. Petersburg are investigating a crash that claimed the life of a 81-year-old woman.
On Monday, September 11th just before 7:30 p.m. a black VEO Scooter, operated by two adult females, was traveling eastbound on the north sidewalk in the area of 1033 Central Avenue North.
Two pedestrians were walking westbound on the north sidewalk at the same location.
The operator of the scooter failed to stop or take any action when approaching 81-year-old Silvia Henao, knocking her to the ground.

Henao was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with life-threatening injuries and died this morning, September 16th, due to her injuries. The next of kin has been notified.
The occupant of the scooter remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
The investigation is still ongoing.
