80-Year-Old Brooksville Woman Killed In Afternoon Crash

HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. - An 80-year-old Brooksville woman has died in a crash that happened around 12:44 pm on Thursday, troopers say.

HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – An 80-year-old Brooksville woman has died in a crash that happened around 12:44 pm on Thursday, troopers say.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the Brooksville woman was traveling westbound on Hayman Road, and a van was traveling northbound on Culbreath Road.

Troopers say at the intersection of the two roadways, the van continued north under a flashing yellow signal while the Brooksville woman failed to stop for a flashing red signal and stop sign, colliding with the right side of the van.

The 80-year-old woman was transported to an area hospital but later died from injuries suffered during the crash.

The driver of the van and his passenger, both from Tampa, suffered only minor injuries.
