John Henry Stack, a 76-year-old resident of Myrtle Beach, has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison following his conviction for a bank robbery committed in 2023. This sentencing comes as a result of a two-day jury trial held in March, where evidence presented by the government confirmed Stack’s involvement in the crime.
The incident took place on March 10, 2023, when Stack entered the Anderson Brothers Bank in Aynor wearing a disguise that included a blue medical scrub shirt, a winter hat, sunglasses, and a medical mask.

At the time of the robbery, Stack was already on supervised release from previous federal bank robbery convictions in both South Carolina and North Carolina, having been released from prison in 2022.
The court, in imposing the sentence, highlighted Stack’s violation of trust by committing another bank robbery while under supervision. In addition to the 10-year prison term, Stack has been ordered to pay $2,130 in restitution, the amount stolen from the bank.

The investigation leading to Stack’s arrest and conviction was a collaborative effort involving the Aynor Police Department, Myrtle Beach Police Department, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, and the FBI Columbia Field Office.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Katherine Flynn and Lauren Hummel.
