A 74-year-old Florida man has been arrested and charged with 30 child pornography offenses stemming from an investigation.
On May 13, 2022, Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) Major Crimes Detective Nicholas Sutliff executed a search warrant on a home in the 6600 block of NW 62nd Avenue after an investigation revealed that the homeowner was downloading and transmitting child pornography.
Detective Sutliff interviewed 74-year-old Edward Calvert, who admitted he was the sole occupant of the residence.
Mr. Calvert then refused to answer further questions.
Investigators say the residence was searched and several electronic devices were located, including a desktop computer.
A Senior Digital Forensics Technician conducted an extraction of the desktop computer, which resulted in the discovery of additional evidence corroborating that Calvert had downloaded and shared child pornography.
Calvert was arrested for twenty (20) counts of Possession of Material Including Sexual Conduct by a Child and ten (10) counts of Transmission of Child Pornography by Electronic Device or Equipment.
He was placed under arrest and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he is held on a $150,000 bond.
