73-Year-Old Michigan Man Killed In Citrus County Motorcycle Crash

CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. – A 73-year-old man from Ludington, Michigan, was killed in a motorcycle crash on Thursday, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers say a car was traveling northbound on US-41, North Florida Avenue and the motorcycle was traveling southbound on US-41, just after 2 PM on Thursday.

The car attempted to pass another vehicle that had just departed a private driveway located at 12039 North Florida Avenue, and failed to slow, the driver steered into the southbound lane and path of the motorcycle.

Investigators say the front left of car collided with the front of the motorcycle, and the Michigan man was ejected. The man was transported to an area hospital, but died from injuries sustained in the crash.

The driver of the car, a 29-year-old man from Citrus Springs, Florida, sustained minor injuries in the crash.
