700-New Residential Permits, Pasco County Waives $600 Builders Admin Fee During ‘Building Boom’

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – Pasco County is experiencing a building boom – with more than 700 new, Single-Family Residential Permit Applications under review!

In an effort to continue providing excellent customer service during this time of growth, Pasco Building Construction Services (BCS) is waiving the $600 Administrative Fee charged when building plan review and/or inspections for new single-family residential permits are performed by private providers instead of county staff.

The waiver will be in effect through Friday, July 9, 2021.

“We are encouraging single-family home builders to use private providers during this time of high-volume building permit activity in Pasco County,” said Pasco County Building Official Esther Oluyemi. “Over the past several months, our team has been reviewing as many as 100 more applications per month than usual, and private providers can help us maintain the level of service our customers expect.”

Single-Family Residential Permit (SFR) Applications by the numbers:

✓ Pasco County is reviewing 721 new SFR permit applications
✓ Pasco BCS processed 5,741 new SFR permits in 2020 – up 32% from 2019
✓ The number of monthly SFR permit applications in Pasco has been higher in each of the past 6 months than in any month of the past 8 years

Florida law allows for plan review and inspection code compliance services through a process that is referred to as the Private Provider program governed by Florida Statute Sec. 553.791.

The program offers an alternative to traditional review and inspection services provided by local enforcement agencies. To learn more about Pasco County’s use of the Private Provider program, please visit: bit.ly/PrivateProvider.
