62-Year-Old Man Arrested After Shooting Victim In A Parked Car Saturday

ST. PETERSBURG, FL. – A 62-year-old man has been arrested after shooting one person and a vehicle early Saturday morning.

At 5:52 a.m, police responded to a call that a man was shot in the parking lot of the MLK Food Store, 1500 Dr. MLK St. S. in St. Petersburg.

Police say they discovered an 84-year-old man was shot while he was sitting in his car in the parking lot at that location.

The victim suffered a non-life-threatening injury. Another vehicle was also struck by a bullet but no one else was hurt, according to police.

Investigators say that K9 Officers tracked the suspect, Tyrone Church, 62, and arrested him minutes later at 6:06 a.m.

Church faces charges for two counts of attempted murder not premeditated and one count of a felon in possession of a firearm.
