56-Year-Old Woman Dies Following Car Vs. Pedestrian Crash In St. Pete

On Sunday, at approximately 7:00 p.m., deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team responded to 709 Gulf Way in St. Pete Beach to investigate a vehicle versus pedestrian crash.

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla – On Sunday, at approximately 7:00 p.m., deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team responded to 709 Gulf Way in St. Pete Beach to investigate a vehicle versus pedestrian crash.

According to investigators, 21-year-old Jolee-Ana Eaton was traveling west on 8th Avenue attempting to make a left-hand turn to travel south onto Gulf way.

Two pedestrians, 68-year-old Maria Rodriguez and  56-year-old Lynn Gilliland were crossing west to east on Gulf Way, not in a designated crosswalk, when they were struck by Eaton’s 2005 Nissan Pathfinder in the center of the roadway.

Rodriguez was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to deputies.

Gilliland was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

According to investigators, speed and impairment do not appear to be factored in the crash.
