5-Year Old In Critical Condition After a Four-Vehicle Crash Monday

CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. – According to Florida Highway Patrol, a 5-year-old is in critical condition tonight after an accident involving four separate cars in Citrus County Monday.

Troopers say a car driven by a 17-year-old female from Ocala was traveling southbound on CR-491 (North Lecanto Highway), north of West Hampshire Boulevard. An SUV driven by a 60-year-old woman from Ocala was stopped on CR-491, north of West Hampshire Boulevard, and ahead of a 17-year-old.

A third vehicle, an SUV, driven by a 30-year-old woman from Summerfield, was traveling southbound on CR491, north of West Hampshire Boulevard, while a 66-year-old woman from Ocala was traveling northbound, in a car, on CR-491, north of West Hampshire Boulevard.

The Ocala teen failed to slow for other slowed or stopped traffic, and as a result, her car struck the rear of the 60-year-old woman’s SUV.

The third vehicle, an SUV driven by the Summerfield woman, traveled left to avoid a collision with the first car and entered the path of the 66-year-old woman’s car and collided with the left rear of the 17-year-old’s car and then
collided with the 66-year-old woman’s car.

The 30-year-old driver from Summerfield and a 30-year-old passenger, sustained serious injuires. A second passenger, a 5-year-old girl from Beverly Hills, Fl. is listed in critical condtion.

The 66-year old woman from Ocala is also listed in serious condition and the other drivers sustained no injuries.
