HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – A 45-year-old Thonotosassa man was struck and killed by an SUV in Thonotosassa Friday.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, just after 4 PM Friday, an SUV was traveling northbound on US-301 approaching Tom Folsom Road and attempted to pass a slower vehicle by passing on the right in a merge lane where the highway dissolves from four to two lanes.
The man was walking eastbound across the northbound lanes of US-301 and was struck by the SUV towards the end of the lane merge.
The man suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.
