CLEARWATER, Fla. – The boy who was struck by a Ford Expedition in Clearwater Beach Sunday has been identified as Toby Swanson, 4, of Fargo, N.D.
He remains in critical condition at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, police say.
On Sunday, Clearwater Police and Clearwater Fire & Rescue responded to a vehicle-versus-pedestrian call in the 400 block of South Gulfview Boulevard on Clearwater Beach.

The boy was struck by a 2024 Ford Expedition being driven by a valet driver at the Opal Sands, 430 S. Gulfview Blvd. The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
Police say the 4-year-old boy was flown to All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg by medical helicopter, where he remains in critical condition.
