4-Year-Old Child From Lee Killed In Rollover Crash On Florida Highway

HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – A four-year-old girl tragically lost her life in a single-vehicle rollover crash on State Road 589 in Florida. The accident occurred around 10:00 PM on Saturday, October 19th, south of US-98.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 47-year-old woman from Lee, Florida, was driving a Kia Optima southbound on SR-589 when she lost control of the vehicle. The car veered off the roadway, struck a concrete culvert, and became airborne before overturning and coming to rest on the shoulder of the highway.

The driver and a 7-year-old girl, both passengers in the vehicle, sustained serious injuries and were transported to area hospitals. Sadly, a 4-year-old girl who was also a passenger in the car succumbed to her injuries at a local hospital.

The crash remains under investigation, and it is unclear at this time what caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
