CLEARWATER Fla. – Clearwater Police and Clearwater Fire & Rescue responded to a traffic crash with serious injuries Saturday afternoon at Sunset Point Road and World Parkway.
Witnesses at the scene said the motorcyclist was speeding before the crash and ran the red light at the intersection, causing the collision, which happened around 4:14 pm Saturday.
The motorcyclist, a 33-year-old Clearwater man, was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg as a trauma alert after the crash, but later died from injuries sustained.
Both westbound lanes of Sunset Point Road were shut down for the investigation, as well as one eastbound lane.
