TAMPA, Fla. – On Monday, August 31, SPCA Tampa Bay received 30 dogs from the Louisiana SPCA due to the impact of Hurricane Laura. The SPCA Tampa Bay veterinary tech team evaluated their new arrivals and was able to clear several for adoption on Wednesday, September 2.
As of Tuesday, September 8, seven have been adopted and are with their new forever homes. Three are currently available for adoption when SPCA Tampa Bay opens at noon on Wednesday, September 9. A third of the dogs were not immediately able for adoption. They needed routine heartworm treatment. Once their condition improves as many as ten more dogs will be up for adoption.
