1.  September Killing of a Ruskin Woman on I-75

On Friday, September 16, 2022, an unidentified woman was riding in a Buick Enclave’s passenger seat along I-75. At the same time, a semi was traveling north on the interstate when it drifted off the lane and collided with another rig parked at the interstate’s shoulder.

The force of the impact sent a gas tank from the moving truck flying and landing on the Buick, killing the woman at the scene. The driver of the ill-fated car, the two children in the back seat, and the truck driver all sustained minor injuries.

2.  Car Wedged Under a Truck

In late May, a horrific collision between a car and a truck left the car wedged under the truck. The accident occurred on March 25, 2022, at 5 AM along Hillsborough Avenue.

The accident, which had scanty information to go by, left at least one person severely injured, which was, by all means, miraculous going by the nature of the accident.

3.  September 12, 2021, Truck Accident

According to Florida Highway Patrol, a 27-year-old Mississippi man was heading eastward along Martin Luther King Boulevard while the truck was heading north on the same road near Waring Drive.

On reaching Waring Drive, the 27-year-old took a left, putting him in the path of the semi. The semi rammed into the passenger side of the vehicle, severely injuring the 27-year-old and killing the 51-year-old truck driver.

How to Get Compensation if You Have Been Injured In a Truck Accident

You may be eligible for compensation if you have been injured in a truck accident. However, your eligibility will depend on who is at fault in the accident. If fault for the truck accident is with the truck driver, company, or owner, you have a right to compensation for damages.

Recovering a fair settlement is not automatic. You have to work with personal injury lawyers with a proven record of winning for truck accident victims and recovering fair compensation for their damages. But there are a few things you may also need to do to improve your chances of a better outcome.

How to Improve Your Chances of Getting Fair Compensation

Seek Medical Attention

The most important step after an accident is getting medical attention. So you will need to call 911.

Besides ensuring that you get speedy treatment, seeking immediate medical help links injuries to an accident and provides the necessary documentation for determining the value of your claim.

Inform the Police

If you call 911, there is a high chance the police and paramedics will come to the scene. When the police arrive, they will document the scene and gather all the information they can.

If they do not show up, you may want to file a report to the nearest police station. A police report helps place you at the scene of the accident and plays a significant role in determining the at-fault party.

Document the Scene

If you are lucky to get out of a truck accident alive, it will help to document the scene in the very first minutes before any tampering occurs.

You do not have to perform detective quality documentation. Picture and video footage of the scene will be sufficient to help your lawyer build your case.
