HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office announced the weekend results of “Operation Red, White, and Blue,” a comprehensive DUI enforcement initiative to ensure a safe and enjoyable Fourth of July celebration for all residents and visitors in our community.

“As families and friends come together to commemorate our nation’s independence, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is committed to maintaining the safety of our roadways and waterways and preventing alcohol-related incidents during this holiday period,” said HCSO.

Our primary goal is to safeguard the lives of all motorists, pedestrians, and boaters during the Fourth of July celebrations. Driving under the influence not only endangers the driver but also places innocent lives at risk. We urge everyone to celebrate responsibly and designate a sober driver if alcohol is part of your plans,” said Hillsborough Sheriff Chad Chronister.

Results of “Operation Red, White, and Blue” (as of July 3, 2023): – Traffic Stops: 56
DUI Arrests: 27
– Citations Issued: 6
– Vessel Stops: 35
– BUI Arrests: 1
– Marine Citations: 3

Sheriff Chronister encourages residents to report suspected impaired drivers and any suspicious activity they may encounter during the Fourth of July festivities.

“We value the support of our community in keeping our streets safe,” said Sheriff Chronister. “If you see someone driving recklessly or displaying signs of impairment, please don’t hesitate to report it by calling us. Together, we can make a difference and protect each other from unnecessary harm.”

“Operation Red, White and Blue” will continue through July 4, 2023.
