27-Year-Old Man Dies After Crashing Into Retention Pond In Seminole

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – A 27-year-old man died after crashing into a retention pond Sunday, despite life-saving measures from first responders.

On Sunday at approximately 4:08 p.m., Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team responded to 102nd Avenue and Botanica Drive in Seminole to investigate a fatal single-vehicle crash.

According to investigators, 27-year-old Taylor Titus was traveling westbound bound on 102nd Avenue in his 2016 Mazda sedan in the area of Botanica Drive when Taylor’s sedan crossed across the eastbound travel lanes of 102nd Avenue and left the roadway for an unknown reason.

The vehicle struck a fence and landed upside down in a nearby retention pond.

Taylor was the only occupant of the vehicle and was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Deputies are investigating whether speed or impairment are factors in the crash.

The next of kin has been notified.
