Fatal Crash In St. Pete

26-Year-Old Tampa Man Killed In Fiery Overnight St. Pete Crash

ST. PETERSBURG, FL. – A 26-year-old Tampa man was killed in a fiery crash overnight, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers say the man was traveling southbound on I-275 near mile marker 28 at a high rate of speed just after 10 pm on Tuesday.

Another car was traveling southbound on I-275 ahead of the Tampa man.

Investigators say the man overtook the car in front of him and collided with the rear of the car. Both vehicles departed the roadway and entered the outside shoulder.

Once on the shoulder, the car that was rear-ended came to a stop, but the Tampa man’s car collided with a light pole and then a tree before erupting in flames.

Troopers say the man suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.
