ERIE, Penn. – An extensive Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) investigation has resulted in federal charges against 26 individuals across nine separate but connected indictments. These charges stem from violations of federal narcotics and firearms laws, according to a statement from U.S. Attorney Eric G. Olshan.
The indictments target a network of drug dealers operating out of Erie, Pennsylvania, who are accused of trafficking large amounts of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine.

During the investigation, which included wiretaps, authorities seized firearms from several drug distributors who were either prohibited from possessing them or had them in connection with drug trafficking.
Additionally, multiple “Glock switches” were confiscated. These devices convert semiautomatic Glock pistols into automatic machine guns.
The indictments, unsealed on September 18, 2024, encompass a range of charges. These include:
- A major 11-count indictment against 14 defendants for obtaining and redistributing fentanyl and methamphetamine in Erie County and other areas within the Western District of Pennsylvania.
- A two-count indictment against four defendants for conspiring to distribute fentanyl and methamphetamine.
- A one-count indictment against two defendants for conspiring to distribute cocaine.
- Six additional indictments against individual defendants, charging one to three offenses related to drugs, firearms, or both.

The potential penalties for these charges range from several years to life imprisonment, depending on the specific offense and the defendant’s prior criminal history.
U.S. Attorney Olshan emphasized the serious consequences of combining guns and illicit drugs, stating that the charges send a clear message that drug traffickers and those possessing illegal firearms will face prosecution.
The FBI’s Pittsburgh Special Agent in Charge, Kevin Rojek, highlighted the collaborative effort of law enforcement agencies in dismantling the drug network. He reaffirmed their commitment to breaking the cycle of drug violence.
“Operation Hot Block is the epitome of a joint investigation,” said Acting Special Agent in Charge of HSI Philadelphia Sara Bay. “Working hand in hand, HSI and FBI, along with multiple federal agencies, state, county, and city police, all contributed to the significant enforcement action today. Through these collective efforts, a dangerous criminal organization that dealt in violent crime and supplied deadly drugs like fentanyl to victims in northwestern Pennsylvania has been dismantled. Residents of northwestern Pennsylvania are safer due to the efforts of all law enforcement professionals that helped bring this investigation to fruition.”
