23-Year-Old Nurse Killed While Treating Gunshot Victim In Arkansas Grocery Store Shooting

A young nurse, Callie Weems, 23, was tragically killed while providing aid to a gunshot victim during a mass shooting at a Mad Butcher grocery store in Fordyce, Arkansas on Friday.

The shooting left four people dead and 11 others injured, including the alleged gunman.

Weems, a mother to a 10-month-old daughter, was remembered by her family as a compassionate and selfless individual who always put others before herself.

Her mother, Helen Browning, described her as a “saving grace” who was devoted to her role as a nurse.

“She was the sweetest girl,” said her stepfather, Bruce Grice. “Always worried about other people.”

Col. Mike Hagar with the Arkansas State Police confirmed that Weems was fatally shot while administering care to another victim of the shooting.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the small community of Fordyce and sparked a wave of grief and outrage across the state. The alleged gunman, Travis Eugene Posey, 44, of New Edinburg, is currently in custody and faces multiple charges.
