HAINES CITY, Fla. – The Haines City Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one woman dead and another injured Friday evening. The incident occurred in the area of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way, with detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division assuming the case.
At approximately 6:22 p.m., police dispatch received a 911 call from a woman stating she had been shot. Upon arrival, officers found two adult female victims with apparent gunshot wounds.
Both were transported to local hospitals for treatment.
- Victims:
- A 33-year-old Black female succumbed to her injuries despite medical efforts.
- A 41-year-old Black female remains in stable condition and is expected to recover.

Preliminary evidence suggests that the two women were traveling together in a vehicle when they were shot from behind. Investigators believe the vehicle was intentionally targeted. At this time, no suspects are in custody, but police believe the incident was isolated and poses no immediate threat to the public.

In moments like these, it is vital we come together as a community, offering support and standing united against senseless acts of violence. We encourage any members of our community who may have information to come forward and assist in the investigation, as every detail can make a difference.”

Police are urging anyone with information about the shooting to contact Heartland Crime Stoppers or the Haines City Police Department. Detectives are actively seeking witnesses and leads as the investigation continues.
