TAMPA, Fla. – Two Hillsborough County teenagers are facing charges following threats made against King High School and a teacher.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office’s School Threat Assessment and Response (STAR) Team received tips on September 25th about threatening text messages sent by 14-year-old Le’Ondre Wesley Thompson and 13-year-old Javaris Johnson.

Thompson’s messages threatened to kill and harm the teacher, while Johnson threatened a mass shooting or act of terrorism at the school. Detectives discovered both juveniles obtained the teacher’s personal number from another student, following disciplinary action against that student.

Both Thompson and Johnson were arrested and face charges related to making written or electronic threats and unlawful use of a communication device.

“This type of behavior will never be tolerated and will lead to several real consequences,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “I urge parents to talk to their children about the gravity of these actions. We will continue to pursue those who threaten the well-being of our students and teachers.”

The student who shared the teacher’s phone number is also under investigation for potential charges.
