LARGO, Fla. – Two people have died after a speeding Mercedes Benz ran a light early Sunday and crashed into their vehicle at the intersection.
On Sunday around 5:15 am, the Largo Police Department Traffic Homicide Unit responded to the intersection of East Bay Dr. and Starkey Rd. in reference to an accident resulting in two fatalities.
A 2016 Silver Mercedes Benz was traveling East on East Bay Dr. at a high rate of speed, and a 2014 Black Honda Civic was traveling South on Starkey Rd.

Police say the Mercedes Benz ran a red light and crashed into the Honda.
Both occupants of the Civic died on the scene.
The driver of the Mercedes was transported to a local area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
At this time, it is unknown if impairment was involved in this crash, police said.
The investigation is ongoing at this time.
