LAKELAND, Fla. – Police in Lakeland are investigating an apparent murder-suicide after two people were found dead inside of an apartment Saturday.

According to police, on Saturday at approximately 3:52 p.m., officers were dispatched to 3520 Cleveland Heights Boulevard for a welfare check.

Officers entered the apartment to find two adult persons deceased inside, a 61-year-old male and a 50-year-old female.

Detectives responded to assume the investigation. Preliminarily, based on evidence at the scene, it appears the male shot the female victim and then shot himself.
