2 Palm Harbor Women Killed In Riverview Christmas Night Crash: Florida Highway Patrol

RIVERVIEW, Fla. – A three-vehicle crash on Wednesday night in Hillsborough County has claimed the lives of two Palm Harbor women.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Ambleside Boulevard and U.S. 301 around 6:03 PM.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a Hyundai Sonata traveling westbound on Ambleside Boulevard entered the intersection and was struck by a northbound Kia Optima. The impact caused the Sonata to rotate and collide with a southbound GMC Acadia.

Two passengers in the backseat of the Sonata, an 82-year-old woman and a 60-year-old woman, both from Palm Harbor, suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Sonata, an 87-year-old man from Palm Harbor, and another passenger, a 23-year-old man also from Palm Harbor, sustained minor injuries.

The driver of the Kia Optima, a 22-year-old man from Sun City Center, also sustained minor injuries. The driver and two passengers of the GMC Acadia were uninjured.

The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol. It is unclear at this time what factors may have contributed to the collision.
