MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – A Monroe County Sheriff’s Deputy apprehended two anglers on Friday afternoon for violating fishing regulations near the Channel Five Bridge.
Deputy Willie Guerra, while patrolling the area, discovered the individuals in possession of illegal catches in two separate incidents.
Jail Time for Lobster Violations
Tomas Alberto Ayala Alegria, 35, of Miami, was arrested for multiple violations, including:
- Possessing six undersized lobsters
- Possessing 10 speared lobsters
- Exceeding the legal limit for lobsters
- Spearing wildlife in the Upper Keys
- Failing to have a measuring device

Citation Issued for Snapper Violations
In a separate incident, Boris Valdes Pena, 25, also from Miami, was issued a mandatory notice to appear in court for the following violations:
- Possessing seven undersized mangrove snapper
- Exceeding the legal limit for mangrove snapper
- Possessing one undersized schoolmaster snapper
