SPRING HILL, Fla. – A gruesome discovery in Spring Hill has led to the arrest of two men accused of murder and abuse of a dead human body.
On September 20th, Hernando County Sheriff’s detectives received a tip about a possible body buried in a yard on Algood Road. Their investigation quickly focused on Jeffrey Brehony, who was living in a dilapidated structure on the property. Witnesses described Brehony as acting irrationally and paranoid, claiming he was being watched.

An acquaintance of Brehony, who had been working on the property, told detectives that Brehony had been arguing with a homeless man named Kevin Walden. The arguments stemmed from Brehony’s paranoia about being under surveillance.
Tragically, the conflict escalated into a physical altercation that turned deadly. Brehony allegedly killed Walden during the fight. Afterwards, he enlisted the help of another man, Duane Sanders, to bury Walden’s body on the property.

Detectives interviewed Sanders, who confessed to digging the grave and burying the body. When confronted, Brehony admitted that Walden was buried on the property but claimed that Walden had committed suicide by stabbing himself. He said he was afraid to report the death to the police because of his criminal history.
However, an autopsy revealed that Walden’s death was a homicide, contradicting Brehony’s story. The murder weapon was later recovered from a nearby storm drain.
Both Brehony and Sanders have been arrested and charged in connection with Walden’s death. Brehony faces charges of second-degree murder and abuse of a dead human body. Sanders is charged with accessory after the fact to second-degree murder and abuse of a dead human body. Both men are being held without bond.
